How to Find Happiness Today
Lately, it seems like everything that I read in the news is absolutely horrible. I don't even know how to comprehend the madness going on in our society today. To be honest, reading about every tragedy has left me feeling stressed out, unmotivated, and sad.
I created this blog a few years ago as a space to share what was on my mind and put a positive spin on life. It is hard to find the positive moments in life when I read about everything negative going on. I recently had a realization, well not so much as a realization as remembering something, in every bad moment in life, there are always people out there who help. They are brave, fearless, and kind.
While I think that major news platforms should focus a bit more on the positive, instead of instilling fear, hate, and sadness in the population, I want to do what I can to make the Internet a happier place. So, if you are stumbling across this blog post, I thought I would share some of my tips for learning how to find happiness in unpleasant times and situations.
Don't check the news for at least 24 hours. Trust me on this, chaos will still be ensuing when you decide to look at the news again. Just take a break from things you can't really control. Breathe and appreciate everything you have in this moment.
Do something kind for others. One of the best things you can do is look outside your own life and see how you can help others. Be there for a friend in a time of need, volunteer, donate money to a charity. Putting a smile on someone else's face and making their life better is an instant happiness boost.
Pray. The power of prayer is immense. Handing over your worries and fears to God is very soothing. Pray for the victims, pray for the world, pray for peace. For me, going to church is very calming. Hearing the choir singing, seeing the icons, and listening to the prayers takes me out of my thoughts and into relaxation and happiness.
Be grateful. This is something that I know I need to do more of. It can be so easy to think about where you want to be, what you want to have, and who you want to be. I am challenging myself, and you, to find three things that you are grateful for each day. Appreciate every single moment in your personal journey. One day, you will be exactly where you want to be. Until then, be grateful for the things you have now.
I hope that in some way this post brings a smile to your face and makes your life a little happier.
