Letting Go & Moving Forward
This morning, I was thinking about what to write for my blog post today. A few ideas about Christmas related posts crossed my mind. It wasn't until my mom asked me to clean out some old notebooks that the idea of letting go and moving forward crossed my mind.
While I was in school, I had a hard time letting go of class materials. I always thought hmm what if I need this again somehow? Or what if one of my friends takes a similar class and needs to use my notes? I think partly, I didn't want to throw away work that I spent so much time on. The entire time that I was looking at the notebooks I thought wow how did I ever take this class, I don't remember anything that I learned!
Part of me wanted to keep the notebooks as a memento from my college years. Yet when I really thought about it, how many times am I actually going to look at them? If my mom hadn't brought the notebooks to my attention, I would have forgotten I had them!
Sometimes, you need to let go of excess material in your life to move forward. Letting go of things that don't inspire, motivate, or make you happy will leave room for the things and people who you actually want to be in your life. The hard part is actually going through with the action of throwing away an old notebook or getting rid of a toxic friendship. I guarantee though that your life will be 100% better once you get rid of the clutter in your life. Surround yourself with people and things that make you happy and inspire you to live your best life. After all, life is too short to be unhappy.
