As college seniors across the country are preparing to graduate and head into the "real world," most are probably wondering how to be successful in their first post-grad jobs. After all, it is quite different from college and your run-of-the-mill internship. I remember scouring the internet for any and all articles that could provide tips on how to succeed in your first job after college.

I have spent the past 9 months working at a digital marketing agency and am about to start my second post-grad job. I thought this would be the perfect time to share some tips for success after college.

Before I get into the tips, I thought it would be best to share the following: Post-grad life is what you make of it, there will be a transition period and everyone's path to success is different. If you are about to graduate and do not have a job lined up, don't worry! I didn't, eventually everything will fall into place and you will find a job. This is your chance to seek opportunities and live the life you have dreamed of.

Organization is key. If you have followed my blog for quite some time, then you will know that I absolutely love being organized. This skill is crucial in the workplace, especially with many deadlines. I suggest organizing your inbox into different folders when you first start the job. This way, it'll be easier to find an email a few months down the line, if you need to reference it.

End each day with a to-do list. One helpful tip is to end each day by writing a to-do list for the next day. This will help you unwind, process everything from the day, and figure out your tasks for tomorrow. Doing this will ensure that you don't forget anything and enable you to get started on everything bright and early the next day.

Time management is crucial. If you have a long to-do list, chances are you might be a little stressed out. Learning time management skills is crucial to succeeding in any role. What I like to do is write my to-do list in a notebook and then in my daily planner, write out the times that I will be getting everything done. This allows me to see what I have to do and figure out a way to squeeze it in the day.

Understand that sometimes extra hours are essential. Work-life balance is crucial, however, sometimes you need to understand that extra hours are essential if a project is due soon. During one of my first days on the job, I stayed a few hours extra to ensure that a project was completed on-time. This was crucial so I would not fall behind and my manager really appreciated it.

Remember to take time to have fun. Life is not about work, you work so that you can have adventures and fun with the people you love. If your mind is thinking about work all the time, chances are you will get burnt out and not have the energy to produce the best work possible. So, my advice to you is work hard when you are at work and leave your work at the office at the end of the day. Once you head home, have fun and relax with the people who you love. Take some time for yourself to do the things that you enjoy. Trust me, your work will still be there when you get back and you will have the energy to complete it.

I hope these tips help!
