Books are a uniquely portable magic.
— Stephen King

Ever since I saw Alexis Bledel in The Good Guy, I wanted to be apart of a book club. I never really knew they existed until watching that movie. I thought it would be fun to get together with a group of friends who all read the same book and discuss it over a bottle of wine and yummy food. I haven’t been able to find a book club near me, so I figured I would start an online one!

The first pick for s’more books is Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson. It is about two women meeting at different points in their lives, Blix is 85 and has a terminal diagnosis, Marnie is 29 and just wants an ordinary life with her fiancee. When Blix and Marnie meet, Blix tells her that her marriage will end and she is destined for an extraordinary life. Marnie doesn’t believe her, but when it starts happening she wonders how she was right. Blix is a matchmaker and can tell when two people are meant to be together. She didn’t see it with Marnie and her great-grandnephew, but has the perfect guy in mind for her. When Blix passes away, she leaves Marnie her brownstone in Brooklyn and the matchmaking business.

I just started reading it, and am excited to see where the story goes! So far it is really good, funny, and relatable. If you want to join the online book club, use the hashtags #smorebooks and #smorehappiness on Instagram. We can also chat about the book in the comments below.

Happy reading!
