Christmas Gift Guide
There is something about this time of year. It feels magical and almost like you are in an alternate universe, especially at night. Driving around and seeing the Christmas lights makes the whole getting dark at 4:15 thing pretty bearable. Other than the pretty lights and fun decor in your home, taking time to take part in the Christmas festivities (like baking cookies, making a Gingerbread house, and binging all the Christmas movies) adds some much needed joy to a cold time of year. But, beyond all of that, giving gifts is one of my favorite things to do! It makes me so excited picking out presents for loved ones and seeing their reaction makes me so happy! (side note: Although I love giving presents, I get so uncomfortable opening my own presents up in front of the people who gave them to me! Anyone else like that too?)
Before I get into some gift ideas, I wanted to share one thing that I do that makes finding presents for people 1000x easier. Whenever someone mentions something that they like or want, I’ll make a note of it in my phone. That way, when it comes time for a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, all I need to do is open my app and see what I’ve made note of. It really is that simple, just pay close attention to what people like and finding a gift for them will be easy!
Okay, so let’s get into the gift guide! I’ve added some selections here for different types of people in your life, pick and choose what you like and don’t forget to mix in some presents that people have subconsciously asked you for!
Gifts for the Book Lover
As a fellow book lover myself, here are some books that I’ve enjoyed reading and a subscription box that I’ve always wanted to try.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman - This book is perfect for fellow introverts, it has the perfect mix of romance, humor, suspense, and relatability. Reading about the transition that Eleanor, the main character goes through, is heart warming.
Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty - This book is great for anyone on your list who loves suspenseful books, like Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. The storytelling in the book draws you in and makes you want to keep reading.
The House at the Edge of Night by Catherine Banner - This book is for the travel lovers and honestly anyone in general. It takes place on a charming Italian island and follows the story of the Esposito family for four generations. The story is charming and the island is filled with its fair share of secrets!
Book of the Month Club - I haven’t tried this service yet, but have always wanted to! This is perfect for someone who you know loves to read, but you aren’t sure what books they’ve read yet. Book of the Month Club picks out five new releases and lets its subscribers pick one or more to receive in a monthly box. How fun!
Gifts for the Girl Boss
These gifts have been created by powerful girl bosses, which is sure to inspire the fellow girl boss in your life!
Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis - I read this book earlier this year and it is amazing! You’ve most likely seen pictures and quotes from this book on Instagram and Facebook. Rachel Hollis is really inspiring and her stories are so relatable. This book is perfect for motivating anyone to stop believing the lies about yourself to start living the life you want to live!
Stitch Fix - This online subscription and personal styling service was started by Katrina Lake. I tried this service last year. While I don’t do it anymore, it is a nice gift idea and I guarantee the recipient will feel like a celebrity when they receive their first box filled with clothes picked out specifically for them!
The Happy Planner - A customizable planner with cute stickers and accessories is perfect for someone who loves organizing and planning for their future! The Happy Planner was started by mother-daughter duo Terri Gick and Stephanie Fleming.
Little Words Project - This shareable, trackable bracelet is meant to spread kindness and inspire women. Founded by Adriana Carrig, the dainty bracelets have positive words written on them. I have a few, and each time I wear the bracelets I feel powerful and motivated to accomplish my dreams.
Gifts for the Homebody
There’s nothing like spending some quality time at home snuggled up on the couch. Here are some gift ideas for homebodies.
Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave by Joanna Gaines - In this book, Joanna Gaines shares how to create a home that reflects the people who live there. This is perfect for people who just moved into a new space or are hoping to revamp their current living situation in time for the new year.
Tasty Latest and Greatest: Everything You Want to Cook Right Now by Tasty - I’m sure you’ve seen Tasty’s videos on Facebook and Instagram. The mouthwatering recipes are compiled into this cookbook. It is great to give someone who wants to experiment with new recipes or just loves cooking!
Cozy Textured Robe - This gift list wouldn’t be complete without a cozy robe! It is a must-have accessory for a relaxed day at home! This one is from Target and comes in white and black.
Throw Blanket - I don’t think anyone could ever have enough throw blankets! You have your favorite one that has lasted for a few years, but sometimes it’s nice to snuggle up with a newer blanket! This blanket is from Target and is in a pretty cream and red color.
Gifts for the Men in Your Life
Arguably, finding gifts for the men in your life can be challenging! They don’t often share the things they would like, so it takes careful listening and learning what makes them happy to find the perfect gift.
Vince Camuto Solare Cologne - I got this cologne for my boyfriend for Christmas a few years ago. It smells really nice! You don’t have to purchase this specific cologne, maybe take some time down at the cologne counter in the mall to figure out which scent you and he would like best.
Pajama Set - Typically, I feel like men don’t purchase pajama sets. It’s under those things that they don’t think about. That’s why it makes such a nice gift. Pajama sets are cozy and comfortable!
S’well Bottle - I have tried knock off versions of S’well bottles before, and they just don’t work! This is a great gift as it can be used from home to work to the gym.
Nintendo Super NES Classic - This is the definition of a fun game! It’s probably something that they might not necessarily buy, which makes a perfect gift option!
Let me know what you think of these gifts and if you have other suggestions!
