Weekend Adventure: Ithaca, NY
Last weekend, my boyfriend and I drove up to Ithaca, NY. It was our first time truly exploring the town and we fell in love with its gorges, food, and atmosphere. Fall is my absolute favorite season and I'm so happy that I was able to experience Ithaca in the fall. Here's a rundown of what we did during the weekend. I definitely recommend trying out some (or all) of the things on the list.
Friday we drove up and got into town around 3PM. It was a bit crisp, but sunny. We passed the Ithaca College Boathouse & went to our first gorge - Buttermilk Falls State Park. For dinner we went to Ithaca Beer Company. I had the pizza & some pumpkin beer, it was SO yummy!
Saturday was Apple Fest! It was such a fun, perfect Autumn day :) We ate breakfast at Collegetown Bagel - a staple for Ithacans. I had a pumpkin bagel toasted with nutella...YUM! I can't stop raving about the delicious bagel. We arrived at Apple Fest in the Commons and tried hard cider beer & champagne, apple crisp, pumpkin funnel cake, and pumpkin beer. Everything was delicious! We also picked up a strawberry rhubarb pie & some fudge. I got a little ahead on presents & found something for my friend's birthday & my mom.
Sunday was our last day in Ithaca and we wound our trip up in the perfect way. For breakfast we went to the Farmer's Market. I got a strawberry & nutella crêpe, absolutely delicious. We ate overlooking the lake and it was quite tranquil. Afterwards, we hiked in Taughannock State Park. It was such a beautiful park and waterfall.
Our weekend adventure was so fun and I definitely recommend Ithaca for a peaceful getaway. The foliage was breathtaking, people were kind, and the food was delicious. No shortage of pumpkin & apple flavored treats. Hope you all take advantage of this beautiful season!
